"[W]e are very aware that certain sectors of the country were losing jobs. The job mix is shifting. The economy, as it grows, sometimes there's a different shift in the type of jobs available. You hear a lot of talk about productivity increases. You mentioned productivity increases. A lot of the manufacturing sector is seeing job loss because the worker is more productive. In other words, an hour of a person's time yields more product. And unless demand outstrips productivity, it's a pressure on the job base." Remarks in North Carolina, 11/7/2003.
