   Tax Cuts

Kerry
Kerry proposes tax relief for middle class families, including a "State Tax Relief for Education Fund" to stop state education cuts, and a "College Opportunity Tax Credit" for each and every year of college on the first $4,000 paid in tuition.

Dean
Dean plans to repeal Bush's tax cuts and use the funds to pay for universal health care, homeland security and job creation. He proposes to create a fairer, simpler system of taxation. He will work toward a balanced budget. Dean plans to assure that Social Security and Medicare are adequately funded for the future.

Edwards
Edwards would roll back tax cuts for incomes of over $200,000. He would support tax cuts for the middle class and working poor. In addition, Edwards would increase Earned Income Tax Credit, provide more support for child care, and transportation.

Clark
Clark proposes a return to pay-as-you-go budgeting. He says he will end corporate welfare and close corporate tax loopholes. To identify "corporate welfare" he would create a "Corporate Subsidy Reform Commission." He plans to persuade other countries to support Iraq. He says he will "recapture revenue" from tax cuts to the families making more than $200,000 a year. The estate tax cut will remain to benefit small businesses and family farms. He will make government, including healthcare, more efficient.
