“He’s a nasty guy. Nobody likes him. Nobody in Congress likes him. Nobody likes him anywhere once they get to know him.” That’s the Donald talkin’ about Ted Cruz (listen). Everyone knew Cruz was just using Trump to boost his own popularity until he got a chance to take his place. “Nobody likes him,” and the Republicans would suffer “cataclysmic” losses if they ran him for president. That’s Bob Dole, 1996 Republican presidential candidate, talkin’ about Ted Cruz. [Read more…]
“One of the very few heroes in an unheroic place,” that’s Bernie’s hero. King Abdullah was the only person to receive such praise from Bernie in yesterday’s debate. In contrast, he likes Obama a bit but has called him “weak” and “disappointing.” And Hillary? She’s an anti-hero controlled by Wall St.
So who’s this Abdullah guy, who’s better than our president? One of his [Read more…]
Many of us know the US pays too much because we don’t have single-payer healthcare. Naturally this appeals to left Democrats. But playing them for suckers is not going to help anybody. Don’t take my word for it, here’s a Vox article critical of Hillary’s campaign strategy, but …
“In 1994, Clinton spearheaded a doomed overhaul of the health care system. I’ve interviewed dozens of people who worked with her on that effort, and who have worked with her since that effort, and the lessons her team took away are clear and deeply held. When it comes to health reform, do not screw with what people already have. [Read more…]
According to a recent poll, 41% of Trump supporters favored bombing Agrabah, the central (and fictional) location of the Disney film Aladdin. Update: 30% of Republicans and 19% of Democrats also favor bombing the Disney City. The gap is bigger for opposition. Only 13% of Republicans oppose bombing Agrabah, while 36% of democrats do. Hillary’s supporters seem a bit sharper … [Read more…]
The armed Oregon moochers (famous for grazing their cattle on public land) are “defending” a couple of arsonists. But what you don’t hear is the story of their arson. They were hunting illegally (in Oregon), got spotted, and to cover their tracks, set the area on fire. Burned up 139 acres and almost killed their son, Dusty, [Read more…]
Trump says that “with the terrorists you have to take out their families.” He doubled down on it in the Dec. 3 debate when Rand Paul questioned his plan. Trump replied, “So they can kill us, but we can’t kill them? That’s what you’re saying?”
Trump’s reason? “When they say they don’t care about their [own] lives, you have to take out their families.” That’s to stop future terrorists. Obviously you can’t kill the families ahead of time; you don’t know who they are. So after the attack, kill the families to scare the next would-be terrorist. Let’s think how that works … killing babies… [Read more…]
Bernie knows it’s nonsense, but he’s not saying. He’s happy to have people fall for this line. 2015 is like 2007 and Bernie is like Obama. Let’s take a look.
- This time in 2007
- Hillary had 125 Democratic endorsements
- Obama had 47
Carly Fiorina shot into the spotlight after the GOP debates, even though she didn’t make it to the top 10 but was relegated to the second tier of candidates. Sure, she came across better than the swarm of others at the podiums but let’s take a closer look at her track record:
- She has not served as CEO since her firing from Hewlett Packard in 2005. (HP stock rose 7% the day she was fired.)
- She nearly destroyed the company with her [Read more…]
In 1980, just before he won his first election, Bernie Sanders made a documentary about socialist Presidential candidate Eugene V. Debs. Bernie’s known the electoral score for 35 years. So why won’t he tell his supporters?
Debs ran for president five times, getting a high of 6% of the popular vote in 1912. If Bernie ran as a Democrat (which he’s not and never has been), he just might get as much as 28% of the vote!
That would leave the Republican candidate with 70% (2% independent), by far the biggest landslide of any president in history. Second place would then go to Lyndon Johnson who got 61% in 1964. [Read more…]
Update (Aug 13). Nate Silver has now analyzed seven pairs of pre-post-debate polls. Trump came in next to last (Walker last) with a 2.3% slide pre to post. Not as bad as Rasmussen found, but he is still Toast. Next-to-last out of 17 is not going to frighten the GOP establishment, which is still out to do him in. Of course, he can still run on his own, if he doesn’t like Murdoch and the Kochs dictating the Republican nomination. [Read more…]
